She didn't say anything. She wanted to be able to say everything would be fine, and it would be all right. He had people who loved him. People who loved him enough to risk their lives for him over and over again. She had been one of those people. She still probably was. She knew he held importance in this war. Without him there was nothing, no chance of defeating Voldemort. She sighed, it was heavy and full of sadness.
She knew he was under a lot of pressure. She wished she could be the one there for him, but that was not her anymore. A few months ago she could have been the only who hugged him and told him everything would be alright, even if she didn't know that for a fact. She would have faith in him. He was her hero, and she knew that. Now that image of him was twisted and marred. Everyone close to her ignored or betrayed her. She did not know how to handle something like that.
Any relationship, platonic or otherwise, they would have tight now would be caustic. It would eat away at the both of them. They would argue and make eachother feel guilty or hurt. It would be sickening and she could not have that. It would be best if she just walked away now. Maybe they could have a friendly relationship again, platonic or otherwise. She knew he would never leave her life comepletely. A best friend to her brother, a surrogate son to her mother. He would never be out of her life but it was best that they just left things for now.
"One day. Maybe we can be friends again. But that won't be today. It probably won't be anytime soon. You'll always be my brother's best friend. I mean my family treats you like a brother, and a son. You were so worried about betrayal that you were blind to the betrayal you were commiting." She said. She sat back down on the stands, looking up to the sky. It was surprising to her that she was so rarely cold anymore. A human heater. She conjured up a new quill and began to doodle on her knee once more.
