The day was bright and cloudy, a layer of fresh snow on the ground. The grass peeked past the layer of snow like frost, yellowed and deadened by the cold weather. Observing this from the doorway was a young teenager, in his seventh year and indeed wearing ravenclaw clothes. Thus, it could only be assumed that he was and had been for several years a ravenclaw. A raven birds figure in gold emblem badge was upon his cloak, binding it shut. Slung over his shoulders was a thicker cloak, his blue sweater collar showing, sticking just over the base of his neck. A black and blue scarf adorned his neck, his brown eyes squinting at the lake beyond. Finally he stepped one thick boot embodied foot into the snow, making his way to the lake. Why the frozen lake attracted his attention on this day was unkown to many, maybe even unkown to him. All he knew was that he needed to get his mind off of schoolwork, and focus on something else.. More.. important.. matters..
Like Carolina.. Oh the beautiful, quirky little blonde... Her lips were to die for, her hair so blonde and beautiful.. body of perfection.. a personality that he loved.. And yet she probably was immune to the fact that he liked her, the fact unkown to her. Sometimes he speculated that she knew he liked her, sometimes he tried to make it obvious.. Other times he failed miserably. Most times, actually... Mainly because his nerves failed him and he was only able to say a meek "hello" instead of asking her on a date. But soon that would change. He was determined of that.
Making his w ay to the lake, his feet making soft crunching noises as he made his way over the frosted terrain, he came past several people. Ignoring them as best he could, he continued on his journey to the lake. He needed time to think, time to get ready to approach her.. or maybe just find her and kiss her... Ah, wouldn't that be sweet? Her lips so sinfully on his, her body against his.. Well, he could dream couldn't he? Sitting down on a boulder at the edge of the lake, he sighed softly. "I can dream.."

Carolina was in a mood to wander today. She had nothing on her mind particularly, but it seemed like a good idea for a nice thinking walk. The weather was a bit cold, and there was some snow on the ground. She walked outside, the wind blowing her hair back. She had a simple black hat on her head, keeping her ears nice and toasty. Widening her eyes for a moment, she continued to walk away from the school, heading by the lake. A scarf was neatly tucked into her coat and was particularly special since it was her house colors, Hufflepuff! Hufflepuffs were the most neglected house of them all it seemed, many people didn't care for Hufflepuffs.
The reason behind ignoring them, well was probably because they weren't too special, at least to other houses. Hufflepuffs were sometimes consider brainless, stupid, misfits, and boring students. It was completely untrue! Carolina for a fact, is not boring, and is actually smart, but tends to be a little on the weird side. She can be a bit random, crazy and can be akward to hang out around. Trust though, is something she has, she wouldn't be able to tell a secret no matter what. The only way she would, is if the person holding the secret specifically told her to tell a secret, then its really not considered a secret, since they approve it to be told.
With her hands in her pockets, she thought about being truthful, and the secrets that manage to fill the hallways of Hogwarts. Drama seemed to be such a constant thing, from seeing movies with non - wizard teenagers, things are serious, but with magic, things get more dangerous and out of control. Carolina paused on her thoughts, and stopped walking. She noticed Jake, a guy shes conversed with a few times, he was sitting on the edge of a boulder. She walked over to him, hearing him speak, " I can dream..." Huh, she thought, wondering what hes thinking about.
Smoothly, she sat down next to him. "Can dream about what?" Speaking to him, she had her head turned towards him. Being the akward, weird girl she is, she sometimes had no clue of people and their personal space. So she sat only a few inches away from where he seemed to be sitting.

The sun peeked out from behind a white sky of clouds, shining down briefly on the lake, reflecting a luminescent blue reflection. It was the type of thing a girl would consider pretty, but being a guy Jake just thought it was cool. And it reminded him of Carolina, her beauty and coolness. She was everything he admired in a girl, blonde, cute, quirky. Some might consider her weird, but he conisdered her like him.. And not weird at all. They had spoken a few times, each time he had felt sparks and failed to speak much about anything he really wanted to say or talk about. He wished he had told her, told her that he liked her and dreamed about her. Perhaps that was a bit too much, though?
It was then he heard footsteps and realized that the very girl he had been thinking about had approached him as he had muttered "I can dream.." His eyes closed as he felt her body heat against his as she sat down, just inches away from him. "Can dream about what?" Her voice had floated out of her like music, and he sighed softly. Now or never, he thought, he had to do it. He looked at her, at her soft pale pink-ish skin, rosy like all peoples cheeks were. Only hers were more strikingly beautiful, soft skin, he could imagine. Nice hair, beautifully kept with a hat covering part of it.
Then he decided that he had to get up the courage to tell her. He had to, and he had to do it now. Yes, after going through some mental you-can-do-its he said quietly, "About love.. Funny thing.. I've never really known it. Also.. I was thinking about.. " He gulped, his eyes venturing to hers, then quickly darting away, "I was thinking about you. How every time I see you I feel happy and.. well.. I like you.. I'd like to get to know you.. er... um.. maybe a date? Bloody hell, you must think I'm stupid." His eyes closed, he cursed underneath his breathe. Big mistake, perhaps? Or maybe the best thing he had admitted to her since they'd met?
He looked at her, then quickly looked away as he waited for a response. It could have been seconds, minutes, hours, or so it seemed to him. He waited, his eyes closing. "Sorry... " He said quietly. Crap, he shouldn't have done this.. now what had he gotten himself into? He shouldn't have, shouldn't have, shouldn't have.. yet somehow it had felt so right... Still seemed somehow right. And somehow he did not mind being so close to her, and he did not pull away. Maybe somehow this would all work itself out. He hoped.

"About love.. Funny thing.. I've never really known it. Also.. I was thinking about.. I was thinking about you. How every time I see you I feel happy and.. well.. I like you.. I'd like to get to know you.. er... um.. maybe a date? Bloody hell, you must think I'm stupid."
Carolina at this point had no idea what to do. She'd never really actually had a chance for having some type of romance. No one really liked her before, at least no one said they liked her. Well, if they did, and they didn't tell her, they obviously didn't really care that much. She didn't necassarily need any type of romance in her life, and she actually stays away from things relating to that. Some things just didn't always seem worth it. She didn't really like maybe getting excited or happy about something, when something would just lead to disapointment. If that did happen anyways though, she'd just try to look on the bright side of things, even if there wasn't much of one.
But now, she was in an akward situation and she couldn't just walk away trying to look on the bright side. It wasn't her heart that was going to hurt, it would be his. Its not like she wanted to hurt him, but she didn't really like him in that way, well of what she knew. She didn't understand what he could even like about her, he doesn't even know her. "Sorry... " Carolina jumped out of her own world in which she was thinking back to what was happening. She had to answer him, she didn't want him to have to wait for an answer, she knew that she couldn't wait for such an answer like this.
" Well Jake.. Truthfully? I don't really know you very well.. So I can't exactly like you.." She paused a second, laughing slightly. " I don't think your stupid at all, you've said nothing wrong..and I mean, if you want to get to know me better, I suppose that wouldn't be such a bad thing, to well.. go on a date. " Carolina didn't want to blow him off by just saying she didn't like him as more than a friend, but she didn't really see why she couldn't just go on a date. If it was just getting to know to know each other, it couldn't be that bad. " Don't be sorry. You have nothing to be sorry for! "

The snow started to fall on the lake, the young boy sitting there, the girl had approached just as he had thought of her and he had known that he had to make a move, to tell her how he really felt. It was something that was deeply felt, deep down, despite barely knowing her. Love at first sight? It couldn't be if it was not mutual. But was it? Could it be that the feeling was somehow mutual? This faint hope that she had some liking for him deep inside her lingered inside his heart, his soul.. But what if it didn't? What if the speech he was making was in vain?
His eyes lowered as he made his speech about liking her, he could not believe his own ears as the words had left his lips. Why was he doing this? It was a mistake! A big, big mistake that could only end one way-- in heartbreak. He watched her seemingly staggered reaction, somewhat seeming to be in her own world. Yet another trait that he loved about her. She was so beautiful when she got that dreamy look in her eyes, though he did not spot it now. She seemed rather disgruntled, perhaps amused?
Then he heard her words come out with laughter, perhaps nervous laughter, perhaps joyous.. Of which he could not tell.. Yet another thing that amused him, made him like her was that she was a mystery to him.. It inspired him to try and figure out her mysterious ways, to be a part of her heart and soul and maybe even go on a date. Her words were coming out. "Well Jake... Truthfully?" He held his breathe, this couldn't be good.. Her sweet laughter seemed to fill him, somehow it was far from comforting, almost the opposite. "I don't really know you very well.. So I can't exactly like you."
There it was. The harsh truth. He felt his heart sink back into his stomach, he felt like great giant creature had sat on him, crushing him and depriving him of breathe. Then she spoke again... "I don't think your stupid at all, you've said nothing wrong.." He looked at her, she was so sweet, but she seemed to be hanging onto something else that she wanted to say... And then she said it.
"..and I mean, if you want to get to know me better, I suppose that wouldn't be such a bad thing, to well.. go on a date." It blew him halfway out of his own body, he felt like he had won a million galleons! His heart lept back into his throat.. So he had a chance. A chance to get to know her... And a date to do so! A date! A date, oh a date..
"That'd be brilliant." He said softly, looking at her, smiling goofily. He looked into her eyes, his own beaming proudly at her. He was happy, happier then he had been in a long, long time. His eyes went to the ground, he struggled to think clearly. Where to go? Where would they go for their date?
"If you like, we could go to hogsmeade this weekend... I'll buy you a dinner, and we could have loads of fun." He smiled, half laughing. "Thanks, Carolina.. You're a doll."

As she spoke she watched as Jake's face expressions seemed to change. When she started talking, he looked a little down, but then as she continued with what she had to say, he seemed to have cheered up a little. Well actually, he just looked happy now. He had a look in his eyes where he sort of looked like he could be one of those little kids in a candy/ sweets shop. She tended to compare people to little kids often, they all once were a little kid, but it shows certain times more than other times. Its nice to think that someone that can be mean and cruel had a great childhood, and that just a lollipop the size of your head could bring back great memories. Theres truly, always a little kid inside of everyone because they once were one, it can't completely leave a person. Its part of who they are, and shaped them into what are in this point of time.
After she had finished speaking though, he did look really excited, which sort of brought out that little kid inside of him. "That'd be brilliant." Jake said to her, he seemed like he was trying to dim down the excitement that he had, that he still had in his eyes. He stopped looking at her for a moment, and focused onto the groundd. She wondered if something was wrong, only a couple seconds ago he was obviously happy. It was possible that he coulod only be thinking about something, she wondered what that could be though, she wasn't too sure. She didn't need to think much longer because he seemed to cut of her thoughts. "If you like, we could go to hogsmeade this weekend... I'll buy you a dinner, and we could have loads of fun." Jake was smiling as he said that, and then seemed to laugh. She wondered what he was amused about. "Thanks, Carolina.. You're a doll."
Carolina laughed when he said that she was a doll. She didn't really hear that quite often at all. Its not like she thought of it as literally a doll, but still. Being literally reffered to as a doll though, would be weird, and an akward conversation. She, personally, did not want to be anyones doll, she didn't think it was a very good thing. In the way he meant it though, made her smile. Jake seemed to have a good, happy vibe, that could probably cheer someone up, or keep someones mood happy, so that was a good thing about him. " I'd like to go to Hogsmeade with you, it sounds like it should be fun." She said to him, she felt like she was talking like a box, she wasn't quite sure what to exactly say. " It's no problem?" Carolina slightly questioned this answer because she didn't exactly think he needed to say thanks since it just seemed a little, odd. Not that it was wrong to say it, but to her it seemed unfitting. She couldn't quite be the judge of 'unfitting' and 'odd' though because she was a good example of both of those.

The castle loomed in the distance, the lake frosting with snow. Ice was slowly starting to form on the surface of the lake, and for a moment Jake could have sworn he saw something move in its depths. Myths of creatures, of love and romances lost and won, of a tournament past, of lives saved.. All centered around hogwarts, some even centered around this lake. As the snow fell on the ground, he shivered a little. He could imagine she was just as cold, and so he took off his outer robe, wrapping it around her. His eyes darted to hers as he smiled, his speech flowing from his lips. He had thought for sure he had messed up, and somehow he still thought that kind of thing, but now he had a date with her! A date, a date!
As he finished putting his cloak around her, he whispered a spell, starting a fire before them. It warmed him up almost instantly, the heat of it refreshing and good to feel again. He sighed, looking at the fire as it danced before them, the two of them sitting so close together, his cloak around her, and he smiled, gently touching her hand.
"You are beautiful. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise." He said softly, smiling despite his doubts. He looked to her, his eyes soft and shining with affection, love, and a deep and great understanding that exceeded even his grasp. Something may have passed between them in that moment of understanding, or maybe nothing at all. But what he thought he felt was a feeling that surged through him, sparks flying, his thoughts wild..
He looked away, withdrawing his hand. His face was flushed of color, then slowly color started to make its way to his face, and before he knew it he was a dark, deep shade of scarlett red. He looked to her, "I.. I shouldn't have done that.. Umm... Yeah.. " He looked to her, then asked her softly, "Are you looking forward to this weekend? Cause.. I am really, really looking forward to our date.. I hope I can give you the time of your life."
He looked at her, her beauty and her oddness that to him seemed like a mystery, and he loved everything about that. He whispered a soft spell, conjuring up flowers, a beautiful dozen roses appeared in his hands. He smiled, handing it to her. He whispered a soft spell and spoke softly, "I just made a spell so that they'll stay this beautiful forever. Kind of like you..."
