Lavender was taking the short walk from the Slytherin Common Room to the kitchens. Ever since she had been switched into the Slytherin House she had stopped going to regular meals, because she couldn’t stand sitting at the Slytherin table and looking over at the Gryffindor table and all of her friends having a good time without her. She wouldn’t admit it to anyone because she knew that they would use it against her somehow, but she missed her old house and her old friends, and her old dorm. Sure her new dorm was cool and she had Ginny but Lavender didn’t really know Ginny and she didn’t really talk to anyone in the dorm unless it was about the Elemental crap.
Lavender stopped thinking of the past as she walked up to the painting of the fruit; she reached her hand out and tickled the pear. Once the pear turned into a door knob she grabbed it and opened the door that led into the kitchen. The house elves greeted her and set off to make her something to eat. By now they all knew that she would be here and knew what she wanted to eat. She was surprised that they didn’t already have her food ready but then again she came at a different time every day and she knew that the elves didn’t like making food and leaving it to set out for a long period of time.
As Lavender watched the elves move around the kitchen picking up ingredients and putting them back down, she thought about something she had herd Hermione say about how Witches and Wizards mistreated House Elves. She didn’t believe that people mistreated House Elves, but she did miss hearing Hermione go on and on about it. In fact Hermione wasn’t the only Gryffindor that she missed she missed Ron to. But the reason why she missed Ron was completely different from why she missed Hermione. Hermione was good to have around if you needed help on your homework. But she missed Ron because he was good to look at and funny and she still liked him, no matter what had happened between them. She wondered what his reaction to this whole Elemental thing was. She had never asked Ginny about it, she was hoping that she could ask Ron about it in person, but she doubt that it would happen.
